Grade 1 was introduced to Adjectives and Acrostic Poems last week. Students discussed what adjectives meant and also came uo with an adjective about themselves.
They also extended their knowledge of adjectives by using them to write Acrostic poems. Both students and teachers were excited listening to the poems penned down by the little poets.
The Grade 1 students were introduced to the next unit in Science, namely, Earth and Sun. They learnt about the occurence of days and nights and also understood how the size of the shadow of an object changes at different times of the day.
The class had various interesting discussions about how planets move in elliptical orbits to what rotation and revolution mean. Students also will be conducting experiments at home(guidelines given in the form of videos) to reinforce this understanding.
Math sessions last week covered recapitulation of basics of Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division. Students recalled the keys words and rules of each operation. Session included quiz that touched upon all of the above mentioned topics. Children were thrilled to interact and discuss. Overall it was a wonderful experience connecting with the students and to know they were able to summarise the concepts taught so far.
It was an energetic and enthusiastic discussion in Social Studies, last week. Students connected sense organs which they have learnt in Science through a mind map on the festival - Eid. The integrated approach was received very well by the class.
Students recalled all the Vyanjans learnt so far. We even had a quick rapid fire on Swar & Vyanjan, followed by rhymes. They also learnt new vocabulary which were in the song” Naani teri morni ko mor le gaye......” They participated with eagerness in Hindi conversation too.
